Born in Enid, Oklahoma, and raised in Newfoundland, Canada and the mountains of New York, Dylan grew up a family of music lovers: His dad played cool jazz music snare drum with the stereo; and his granddad George Vaughn was first reed player in the New York Radio City Music Hall of the 30s and 40s.
Dylan started in music with the clarinet at age 9; but blowing all that air into a conical bore made him dizzy - so he quit.
At the age of 11, in a department store in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a friend showed him how to play guitar for the first time; one finger - "Dirty Water"by The Standells.
He's been off and running ever since.
